Q3. How do we know that we are getting a good caregiver through ACS?
We have a 12 point screening and background check process that ensures we refer only quality caregivers to our clients. Our caregivers come with excellent references from previous clients and employers. Peace of mind is very important when it comes to your family’s health and well being.

All caregivers referred by ACS are pre-screened through a comprehensive hiring process, which includes:

  • A detailed application questionnaire
  • Phone interview
  • Personal interview
  • Criminal background check
  • Personality/behavioral test
  • TB Test
  • Reference check (supervisory and personal references)
  • Skills/knowledge test
  • And more

Q4. Is there a charge for initial assessments?
ACS offers a FREE initial assessment visit, where we determine the required level of care, discuss the best possible care options and special needs of the person being cared for.

Q5. Do ACS caregivers provide 24 hr care?
Yes, we have caregivers that provide overnight care as well as live-in care.

Q6. How often does ACS follow up with patients to assess their care?
Each person has a different circumstance. We set the re-assessment frequency according to the wishes of the senior or their family.

Q7. What if I’m not satisfied with the caregiver?
We are very good at matching the right caregivers according to the clients’ personality and needs.  However, in the rare instance when clients are not satisfied with their caregiver, we will accommodate any request for any changes that you may have.

Q8. Will I have the same caregiver each time?
We want to make the process as easy for the client as possible. Our goal is to foster the long tern relationship between the client and the caregiver(s). Familiarity and trust go hand in hand and both are required for a successful homecare experience. We take great care and pride in the matching process, many times we find more than one caregiver that would be a good match for the client. We often recommend that the client be familiar with more than one caregiver to maintain the feeling of familiarity when a fill-in is needed.

Q9. Do I pay the caregiver directly?
No. Our system is designed to make payments simple and hassle free. Our office will keep track of the hours of service provided, we send an invoice for your review, and the fees are charged directly to your account every week. This makes the entire payment process transparent and you don’t have to worry about paperwork or late fees.

Q10. What is the cost for these services?
Our mission is to provide the best service at the best price. All new clients are given a free initial assessment to determine what their needs are.  Our services are generally 20% less than traditional agencies. Accredited Caregiver Specialists will customize a plan of care that is suitable to your needs and budget.

Q11. How do I discuss the exact rates for the services I want?
To discuss the exact rates for the services you desire call our office at 1-650-307-3890 for a complementary in-home consultation.  During the consultation, your specific homecare needs will be evaluated for a detailed quote.  A written rate sheet is provided prior to the start of services.

Q12. Do I need a physician’s authorization/prescription?
No, there is no pre-authorization or prescription required. One of the great things about our service is that you and your family decide the amount of care that you would like.

If you have a private insurance policy (such as long-term care insurance) that covers homecare services, we are happy to help provide the appropriate documentation so you can be reimbursed  by the insurance carrier.

Q13. How is the privacy of my personal information maintained?

ACS adheres to all applicable federal and state guidelines related to privacy of personal and healthcare information.

As a professional organization, your information will never be sold to any 3rd party affiliate under any circumstances. Only authorized family members will be given access to information in the client’s file.

Q14. Is there a contract period for services?

There are no contract periods to which you are committed. We are flexible with changes in schedule and we can adjust to sudden changes in your situation on just a few days notice.
